CINECA and Semantic Internet Innovation SPA (SII) have announced that they will partner to offer the European Computer Driving License exam to students via a .LRN-based application to be supported by SII.

CINECA (www.cineca.it), is a consortium comprising 24 Italian universities and Italy's National Resource Council under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR). It is the major Italian computing center and one of the most important worldwide.

SEMANTIC INTERNET INNOVATION SPA (www.sii.it) provides integrated solutions (contents, tools, methodologies) for the management of learning communities or communities of practices, and is the first Italian company to support .LRN.

With over 4 million participants, the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the world's largest vendor-neutral end-user computer skills certification and is internationally recognised as the global benchmark in this area. ECDL is currently available in 137 countries and has been translated into 32 languages around the world, making it the world's leading certification program.

This latest adoption will push .LRN significantly beyond its current base of over a quarter of a million users, at 24 major universities in 18 countries on 5 continents.
